Description: Excellent one-piece New York Militia coat button. Tice states, "British manufacturers produced large quantities of these buttons in both gilt and silver finishes before 1830.” The face features the New York arms crest on a lined field with "EXCELSIOR” below. This example has plenty of silver plating on the face and the stand-up shank is intact.
Backmark: ".WARRANTED. / DOUBLE PLATED" dm between two solid rings.
