Z5470 Two-Piece Georgia Officer’s Buckle
Description: Nice locally excavated two-piece Georgia state seal buckle. This buckle was recovered just outside of town and is not a marriage. This one is all original and every piece retains the same uncleaned patina The keeper on the wreath has snapped off which may have been the reason the belt was discarded. The tongue is relatively flat without damage. It features three columns with "Constitution” across the top arch. The words, Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation appear to be present but aren’t legible. The reverse side of tongue has a very nice cooling dimple from sandcasting. There were quite a few Georgia troops throughout our area, but I would think most of them passed through after the battle of Antietam. Better provenance will be supplied to the buyer!
