Z5733 Full Box of .56-50 Spencer Ammunition, Sage Ammunition Works
Description: Excellent and complete box of 42 .56-50 Spencer carbine cartridges for the Model 1865 Spencer carbine. There are a total of six pasteboard sleeves and each one contains 7 Spencer cartridges. This box appears to be unmolested as the filler, sand, tallow dust is present when you open the box. The corner seams on the lid have been glued and reinforced with tape at some point. Overall, the box has very little wear and the soiling is minimal. The green paper label is intact and legible. Sage Ammunition Works was located in Middletown, Connecticut and was in business between 1864-1866. This would make an excellent display piece sitting next to your Model 65 Spencer.

The label reads as follows:
FORTY-TWO, PRIMED
METALLIC CARTRIDGES

SPENCER CARBINE.
Cal. 50, - - Model 1865.
