Description: Nice, excavated one-piece pewter gaiter button. Gaiters were worn to protect the lower legs. This example still retains the pewter shank and it’s bent to the side. The face of the button is round, and the back is flat. These pewter gaiter buttons are predominately used in the early 1800’s.
