Z6065 Scarce 1 Ga. Strong Cannon Signaling or Saluting Shell N.P.E.
Description: Scarce two-piece brass shell used in a 1 Ga. signaling cannon manufactured by Strong Firearms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. This shell is a N.P.E. or new primed empty. These large sizes yacht, signaling shells are scarce. According to Guy Hildebrand, the 1 Ga. cannons were to be used on yachts that were 150 or longer. Strong Firearms Company recommended a ½ pound of black powder for this shell. You would undoubtedly hear a ship coming in with one of these.
