Z6242 Very Rare .22 Short Rimfire Cartridge with Raised "W” Headstamp
Description: Very rare .22 short with a raised "W” headstamp manufactured by Winchester. Barber states "The raised "W” in .22 S and .41 S were used very briefly, perhaps 1880 as a tribute to Oliver F. Winchester after his death on December 10th. Interestingly, Barber mentions a .22 S, .41 S, and a .22 Long in the back under the headstamp section. I’ve seen the first two, but I’ve never seen a .22 L. Nice example with a spotted bullet that is slightly seated at an angle. A very hard example to find!
Headstamp: Raised "W”
Measures: OAL .690” CL .418” RD .264” HD .224” CM .222” BDaCM .224”
