Description: Nice cartridge for the 25-barrel Billinghurst & Requa Battery/ Machine Gun. This gun was patented by William Billinghurst and Josephus Requa on September 16, 1862, under Patent No. 36,448. The gun was patented under an improvement to platoon batteries. The reloadable brass casings were loaded with waterproof skin cartridges and held in place by a long hinge clip. All 25 barrels would fire at once. Nice example with light spotting on one side the case.
