Z4893 U.S. Model 1879 Combination Tool
Description: Nice condition M1879 combination tool for use with the .45/70 Trapdoor Springfield rifle/carbine. This one still retains quite a bit of bluing and would clean up nicely. It contains a mainspring clamp, a pin punch, and two screwdriver blades. This example has the bold letter stamping. The swivel arm is locked in place, and it needs a drop of penetrating oil.
Markings: "US / MOD 1879"
Measures: 2.75" x 1"
Reference: Gun Tools: Their History and Identification Vol.
