Z5474 US M1835/M1842 Triangular Socket Bayonet
Description: Nice triangular socket bayonet for .69 muskets designated as the M1835/M1842 bayonet. The same bayonet was commonly used on the M1842 musket as well. This example has an overall length of 20.5” with a blade that measures 17 5/8” x 7/8.” The socket measures 2.656" in length and has a number 1 or 7 stamped into the end. The "U.S." mark is visible with the upper portion light stamp. The blade is still shiny with some dark spots. It appears to have been brushed with varnish a long time ago for storage.
Markings: "U.S” on blade flat, and a "1" or "7" on the end of the socket
Measures: OAL 20.5”
