Z5484 Model 1840 Militia N.C.O. Sword Guard
Description: Nice excavated example of the M1840 Militia Officer’s sword guard. This style of sword would have had a double-edged blade with bone handle and a knight’s head pommel. This is a solid piece of cast bronze. There is a shield on both sides of the guard with 13 stars on each side. The shields are slightly bent inwards. A fine dug example still covered in dirt!
Measures: 5” x 2.25”
Recovered: Shepherdstown, West Virginia
