Description: Nice Africa General Service Medal in silver. This one is ID’d on the edge. It reads, "2455 PTE JAMES COKER II S.L.BN W.A.F.F.” Private James Coker II was in the Sierra Leone Battalion, West African Regiment. This example has the Kissi clasp which was awarded to members of the Sierra Leone Battalion who operated n Kissi Country between March 27th and June 28th, 1905. A very rare clasp! The medal is missing the original ribbon and the suspension bar swivels and is slightly bent forward. There is wear to the surface and edges from polishing.
The Africa General Service Medal was established in 1902. It was awarded to those who participated in minor campaigns in tropical Africa between 1900 and 1956.
