Z5469 Winans & Sinnock Shot Spreaders Patented in 1894

Description: Vintage box containing 26 No. 12 shot spreaders by Winans & Sinnock. These were manufactured under Henry E. Winan’s patent of 1894. These would have been placed on the bottom wad, filled with lead shot to cover and then a top wad would be placed prior to crimping the shell. This would give your shot an evenly spaced spread when using them with a choke bore gun. In short, it eliminated the need for multiple guns by allowing hand loaders to manufacture a variety of rounds for any occasion. The bottom portion of this box is intact with some bends. The top is missing the left hand side and a portion of the front. All other sides of the top are intact with some split seams. The label is crystal clear on this example.
