Z7465 .40-70 Peabody "What Cheer” Cartridge

Description: Nice .40-70 "What Cheer” cartridge used in the Peabody-Martini target rifles. The "What Cheer” name is derived from the "What Cheer” rifle range located in Providence, Rhode Island. The case sizes remained the same, but the powder and projectiles could be changed as needed. There are a variety of bullets and loads found in these cases. The original factory cartridges were manufactured by U.M.C. This example has a pointed paper patched bullet, a brass case, and a brass Berdan primer. Nice example with a few oxidation spots on the case. This example came in listed as a .40-70-370.
